Dallas
*Favorite birthday present was a suprise gift from her dad, an awesome new fishing pole (Dallas is quite a fishermen and spends hours at the lake at Millmeadow)*Got to visit her best friend, Baylee, from Texas, over the summer *Spoke at her cousin, Yates', baptism *Loves Taylor Swift and sang one of her songs solo for Arts Night *Had her first trip into the Granddaddy Lakes and did an awesome job on her horse Sadie *Fourth Grade *Male teacher, Mr. B., which seems to be a good change for her *Dallas loves to write and just finished a 15 page report on Beavers *Devoured the Fablehaven book series and is eagerly awaiting the fifth book which comes out around her birthday *Started piano lessons *Entered the Reflections Contest at school with a song she wrote the lyrics and music to and sang. The song was titled Beauty and she won a medal and went on to Region. *Got her ultimate wish when I decided to let her have a parrot. We named her Cowgirl but, unfortunately, Dallas and I realized you don't always want everything you think you want. She has decided she isn't that interested in keeping the cage clean and we got an unhappy bird that needs alot of care and attention. So...our goal in 2010 is to sell Cowgirl.*For Christmas Dallas wanted a DS but I strongly encouraged her to ask for something that takes a little more imagination and physical energy. So, she asked for, and received, books, modeling clay, clothes, sled, money, Mario Cart Wii game, and western necklace and earrings with birthstone.

We are so blessed to have the things we do. Especially, our health, our wonderful family that is so good to us, and the knowledge of the gospel that keeps us grounded in the craziness and extremely busy times. My children are so lucky to have loving grandparents and extended family. I cherish the time they get to spend with them, not just because I get to go horse riding, but because I remember the times I had with my grandparents and cousins growing up and they are some of my fondest memories. I am noticing how old my kids are getting and I hope to be a better example and pray that I am instilling in them a desire to stay close to and live the gospel and learn for themselves that it is true and it is the only thing that will bring them true happiness and contentment in their lives. I really liked what Jabin said just the other day when we were spending the day alone together, and I think he was feeling especialy spoiled, he said, "It does feel good to be good." I will be lucky if my children will always remember that. :) I'm sure I forgot some important things that happened in 2009, but at least I remembered this much. :0) Happy New Year!
