I have been so busy this summer that I haven't had the chance to do any local 5K races but I was excited to be in town for the Skyline High Elevation Challenge; 10k at 10,000 feet (about 6.3 miles.) Last year I suprised myself and was in the Sanpete Messenger as 1st Place. I had actually got 3rd place but they didn't count the out of the area runners in the paper. My time last year was 52:22.
This year I went up with some of my friends pictured left to right: Jessica Pay, Debbie Harward, me, Jodi Green, and Holly Cook. Jessica's husband Todd also ran. There were about 209 runners this year and I thought it was brutal!!! the first 3 miles is a pretty steep incline and I came so close to stopping for a minute to walk but I didn't. I knew I could do it and I wouldn't let myself give up. Like Forest says "I just kept on running." I ended up getting 4th place this time and hopefully it will come out in the paper as 2nd. Mind you this is in my category women 26-39 years old. The girl ahead of me is a local doctor and quite the avid runner. Well I beat last years time by 2 1/2 minutes!! I was pretty happy about that and finished just under 50 minutes. It felt really good when it was over. When I got home Matt and I took the kids to dinner and a movie. We got home early enough I decided to run another 6 miles since my relay is coming up in 3 weeks and I pretty much have to do three 10k's.
