Deer Hunt

Matt and I had deer tags this year... I haven't had an actual tag for over 10 years so I was pretty excited to carry a gun. This is opening morning and we are splitting up to start hikin.
We were so excited to have Grandma Marianne along with us for the hunt.

Jeff and his huntin buddies.

Me and 4 little girls had the lower half of the mountain. It had rained the day before so by the time we got to the trucks we looked like we had went wading through a river. We were soaked from the wet sage brush and trees. We didn't see anything but heard some shots.

Jabin target practising.

Taking a break for pickles, preztles and dip. Yum! Dusty, his brother, Mark, and Ron came over from Meadow. Don Pendleton, Marcus, and Marianne were in the other truck.

This was another little snack break. It is tradition for everyone to bring some good sweet bread.

Colton, Boozer, and Radar. These are the heros that came to rescue. I went with Matt and his dad to get the horse so we could go for a horse ride and see if we could push any deer out. I wasn't gone long and I thought the kids were watching a movie in the trailer. When we pulled in to camp Marianne was motioning for me to come over to the tent. Then she told me the kids got in the mud. I found out that they went down to the lake and was throwing rocks in and ended up falling in the mud and couldn't get out. Luckily Boozer was down there and drew attention to the kids in the lake and Colton helped pull them out of the mud.

Jabin warming up by the stove.

Haddy's new sweater, pants, and undies hanging up to dry out. I guess Haddy stood out by the fire without any pants on because she didn't dare come in the tent and make a mess.

Tiffany was so cute to help Haddy get cleaned up. I carried her into the shower in the trailer and tried to get the mud off but her legs were stained black.
We finally did get to go on a little horse ride and didn't see anything. I did get to see a couple of doe as we drove around in the trucks. I got pretty excited and put a bullet in the chamber but I didn't get to shoot. I only got to hunt 2 days and then had to get back to work and the kids had school.
